Hi
Welcome to our first blog following the ups and downs of our horses.
We are now getting into the season after the winter break. Honey did her first event at Moreton in March and considering it was the first time out for the season we were really pleased. The weather was absolutely freezing and sleeping on the lorry was no fun. Our times were delayed due to the frozen ground, We had a fairly exciting dressage test with a few change of legs in the wrong places, but at least she stayed in the arena.
She also jumped her biggest course at The Pony Club Dengie at Colraine
which was a metre and unfortunately had the last pole down. I think she was a bit taken aback by the height but with her ability the height was no problem.
Honey has also been presented with a numnah for the most points in the Colraine Winter League Prelim Dressage which was pleasing. We will now move on to Novice classes.
Lily had her first jumping outing at Colraine and had a double clear in the metre class coming second - those ponies shift so can't compete against their time and then won the Pony Club Open Area class with the only clear. This qualified to go to the Champs, but much to far away for one show jumping class.
Rika decided to take Lily - not sure how she managed to persuade Livvy to let her , must have been some bribery involved- to Colraine to do the BD Prelim classes which she did really well. Lily is so much bigger than Louis that it takes a bit of getting used to.
Louis has continued his dressage and won both his classes last month at BD which was great, unfortunately point five of a point out of qualifying. Hopefully next time. He also went to Threewaters Dressage at Chiverton for The Badminton Feeds qualifiers. He unfortunately just missed out on the Novice qualification but won the elementary class and qualified. We now have to decide whether to go to the finals or not. Would be a great experience.
The youngsters are still happily playing in the field and will remain there until we have finished the eventing season in October when Coco will come in to be backed.
